Ubisoft’s Indie Series Finale

The suspense was palpable last Thursday night on a Guilde des jeux vidéo du Québec Twitch channel where the 11 participants of Ubisoft’s 5th Edition Indie Series presented by National Bank got together. After close deliberation, the jury members made their decision. Chasing Rats was crowned grand prize winner with their game Worship.

In addition to the $50,000 cash prize award, the independent studio got a package of support services including financial advice, help with communication, marketing, game distribution and development, all from studio experts and National Bank

The jury was blown away by the finalists’ sheer talent. Each presentation proved once again that Quebec’s independent video game industry is alive and thriving. For the first time ever, the Guilde organized the online event that was hosted by Carl-Edwin Michel and Lyne Bouthillette with flying colours. Indie game fans were also treated to a musical performance by Tortuga and DJ set by Pocaille.

About the Ubisoft Indie Series presented by National Bank

The Ubisoft Indie Series presented by National Bank is a competition for independent video game studios that offers cash prizes, mentoring, creative and marketing tools, as well as financial advice to help studios and their games reach new heights.

For the competition, participants must submit an application to a jury made up of Ubisoft and National Bank employees. Of all the games submitted, a maximum of 11 are preselected by jury members. The preselected studios are then invited to pitch their games and have a chance at bringing home a prize.

This initiative is part of Ubisoft Entrepreneurs, a program that aims to contribute to the overall growth of Quebec’s techno-creative entrepreneurs by offering coaching, scholarships, financing through White Star Capital, as well as connections with Ubisoft teams in Quebec and around the world.
