Sabotage Studio was already on a roll when it won the 2018 edition of the Ubisoft Indie Series presented by National Bank. The Quebec City-based company picked up the $50,000 first prize and a ton of support from Ubisoft – mentoring, marketing tools and financial advice – with their game The Messenger.
“With this kind of money, the 6-person independent studio that we were at the time could go to the moon,” said Thierry Boulanger, Sabotage Studio’s co-founder and creative director.
But instead, the team reached for the stars.
Two years after their retro action platformer, The Messenger, the company launched a crowdfunding campaign for Sea of Stars in 2020.
The success of the latter will catapult them beyond what they could have ever imagined, shattering their expectations and establishing an unparallelled worldwide feat in the genre on Kickstarter.
The success of this new game seems to be well underway and we’re really happy to have contributed to its launch.
Indie series, mission accomplished.
The Ubisoft Indie Series, a Ubisoft Entrepreneurs initiative, is presented by National Bank and powered by La Guilde du jeu vidéo du Québec
