CEIM is proud to announce that it has entered into a new agreement, adding two strategic key players (Ubisoft and Red Barrels), to the video game incubation and acceleration consortium, an initiative led jointly with Indie Asylum with the support of the ministère de l’Économie, de l’Innovation et de l’Énergie (MEIE) and the collaboration of la Guilde du jeu vidéo du Québec.
This agreement, which comes just a short time after the official launch of the consortium, stems from a common vision and is intended to send a strong signal: the future of Quebec video games industry lies in collaboration, the transfer of know-how, and direct support for the next generation of studios – all of which are essential to foster the emergence and competitiveness of the sector.
As undisputed leaders in the video game industry, Ubisoft and Red Barrels already play an key role in Quebec’s independent studio community, both through their direct involvement and their contribution to the promotion of local innovation.
With this announcement, the consortium not only reaffirms its commitment towards sustainable growth, the export of Quebec games, and the recognition of local talent, but it also paves the way for greater interconnections between young studios and major players, which will in turn lead to better preparedness, understanding and response to the global market realities.
“We have always believed in the amazing potential of local indie studios. Their creativity, boldness, and capacity for innovation already play a huge part in putting Quebec on the map, well beyond our national borders. As such, we are extremely proud to count on the support of exceptional partners such as Ubisoft and Red Barrels, two industry leaders that embody success both here and internationally. Their involvement in the consortium demonstrates not only their desire to give back to the community, but also their confidence in the new generation of creators. This is great news indeed, both for our young studios and for the video game sector as a whole,” said Christian Perron, President and Chief Operating Officer of CEIM.
“We have been working to build the video game industry in Quebec for over 25 years. This partnership is in line with our commitment to supporting the development of the local gaming community. By taking part in this initiative, we are seeking to promote local talent, accelerate the commercialization of Quebec games, and maximize their international reach. In doing so, we will create a strong industry, with a significant economic impact, while showcasing our collective expertise,” said Olivier Delisle, Director of Ubisoft RADAR.
“Quebec has built a world-renowned video game community. To continue this momentum, we must share our expertise and increase opportunities for independent studios. CEIM was an essential partner for Red Barrels in its early days, so we are very proud to join the Consortium today and participate in this initiative, which not only promotes studio autonomy but also provides practical responses to their growth and commercialization needs,” adds Marie-Ève Guilbeault, Chief Financial Officer at Red Barrels.
