Engineering Manager/Team Lead – Machine Learning Platform (DNA)

Full-time - REF20594J

Job description

The DNA team develops and manages a variety of data services and tools for storing and analyzing game telemetry. Known as a company-wide reference and trusted source, our products provide:

  • real-time visibility on how Ubisoft titles are played; and
  • an understanding of the habits and preferences of the people playing them.

Committed to knowledge sharing, we collect, process, and curate in-game data. Then transform it into clear and informative visualizations. The result? Meaningful metrics for production teams to make informed decisions and create even better gaming experiences.

As part of DNA, you’ll lead a team creating a bold machine learning platform used to create/test/deploy ML algorithms like our content recommendation system for Ubisoft’s games and services. The purpose of this platform is to provide millions of players with even more personalized experiences.

You’ll manage a team of back-end developers, DevOps/MLOps while closely collaborating with clients, data developers, and data scientists to build a platform capable of making relevant and reliable recommendations. You’ll play an essential role in developing our end-to-end machine learning platform and core infrastructure, from research to production ML pipelines.

What you’ll do

  • Lead, coach, and mentor a team of developers of all experience levels + develop the team’s overall capabilities.

  • Guide the day-to-day execution and delivery of tasks + lead the project team with Agile methodologies.

  • Be responsible for people management as well as cultivating talent, growth, planning, and the delivery of work.

  • Support the team in simplifying and clarifying information + facilitate cross-team collaboration.

  • Collaborate with product managers, other leads, and team members to develop a product development strategy and define the feature roadmap for the ML platform.

  • Be involved in tech discussions and occasionally dive into code.

  • Participate in recruitment to help grow the team.

  • Encourage and build a healthy and inclusive culture (this is extremely important to us).

Qualifications

What you bring

  • Around 5 years of experience in software engineering (or other relevant experience)
  • Experience managing a team of developers, including performance management and/or hands-on technical leadership
  • Proficiency with software development practices for triage, prioritization, and execution
  • A technical background that allows you to navigate technical subjects and discuss architecture and product decisions
  • Comfort in having performance-related conversations (you recognize the link between objective feedback and career growth)
  • A degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering (or related training)
  • The ability to balance short-term priorities with long-term goals & to remain calm when facing obstacles (you know a solution is always at hand)
  • Communication, interpersonal, and presentations skills

Just a heads up: If you require a work permit, your eligibility may depend on your education and years of relevant work experience, as required by the government.
