Performance at the upper end of the recently-raised target ranges

- Non-IFRS operating income up 79% to €100 million

Initial targets for fiscal 2013-14

Paris, May 15, 2013 – Today, Ubisoft released its sales and earnings figures for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2013.

Ubisoft now presents non-IFRS information in its earnings releases as Group Management considers that “Non-IFRS operating income” and “Non-IFRS net income” – which are measures that are not prepared strictly in accordance with IFRS – are relevant indicators of the Group’s operating and financial performance. Management uses them to run the Group’s business as they are the best reflection of its recurring performance and exclude the majority of non-operating and non-recurring items. “Non-IFRS operating income”, “Non-IFRS net income” and “Non-IFRS earnings per share” are comparable to the following three previously-used indicators: “Current operating income before stock-based compensation”, “Net Income before non-recurring items and stock-based compensation” and “Earnings per share before non-recurring items and stock-based compensation”.

Commenting on these results, Yves Guillemot, Chief Executive Officer, stated "In 2012-13 our financial performance outstripped the targets that we had announced a year ago, notably with non-IFRS operating income up 79% and higher-than-expected cash generation. The expertise and talent of our teams enabled Ubisoft to manage the year’s difficult market conditions and the drop in the casual segment remarkably well. In addition, the success of Far Cry 3 confirmed our strong comeback in the major segment of shooter games.” Guillemot continued "We began fiscal 2012-13 with two major franchises: Assassin’s Creed and Just Dance. Twelve months later, we have substantially extended our reach by establishing Far Cry as another major franchise, building upon the great potential for our newest brand, Watch Dogs, and making our online/digital segment an increasingly significant part of our business. The steady rise in our operating and financial performance during the last three years is the direct result of the long-term investments we have made, with the continued development of our creative capacity and the bolstering of our expertise in online activities.”

Sales
Full-year sales for 2012-13 totaled €1,256 million, up 18.4% (or 13.5% at constant exchange rates) compared with the €1,061 million recorded for 2011-12.

Sales for the fourth quarter of 2012-13 came to €175 million versus €161 million in the corresponding prior-year period, representing an increase of 8.7% (or 9.9% at constant exchange rates). This fourth-quarter sales figure is at the upper end of the target range of €159 million to €179 million issued when Ubisoft released its sales figures for the third quarter of 2012-13.

Ubisoft’s sales performance in fiscal 2012-13 reflects the following:

€928 million in revenue generated from games for core gamers, up 60% year on year confirming Ubisoft’s strong comeback in this category. The increase was fueled by record-breaking sales for Assassin’s Creed® 3 (more than 12.5 million sell-in and digital units) and Far Cry® 3 (6 million sell-in and digital units), as well as by sustained revenues of the free-to-play game The Settlers® Online.

€328 million in revenue from casual games, representing a year-on-year contraction of 32% and accounting for 26% of total sales (versus 46% in 2011-12). In this context, Just Dance® 4 confirmed its strength and status as one of the industry’s major franchises with 8.5 million units sold in and a revenue decline of just 14% in value terms.

Online/digital sales leaped 86% to €148 million (included in the core and casual games figures above), which represented 11.7% of the Group’s total sales.

In 2012-13, back-catalog sales dipped slightly by 4% to €206 million, thanks to sharp growth in online and digital back-catalog sales that partly offset the decrease for the retail back catalog.

Main income statement items
Gross profit totaled €913.5 million (72.7% of sales) in 2012-13, up significantly on the €718.1 million (67.7% of sales) recorded for 2011-12. Gross margin has risen steadily since 2010-11, with the increase during the past 12 months driven by higher average net selling prices for core gamer titles and Just Dance® 4, and by a sharp rise in high margins online sales.

Non-IFRS operating income came to €100.3 million versus €56.0 million in 2011-12. The 2012-13 figure is higher than the top end of the guidance announced a year ago of between €70 million and €90 million, and is at the upper end of the recently-raised target of between €90 million and €100 million. This performance reflects a combination of the following factors:

A €195.4 million increase in gross profit.

A €79.8 million rise in R&D expenses, which totaled €428.2 million (representing 34.1% of sales), versus €348.4 million (32.8% of sales) in 2011-12.

A €71.3 million increase in total SG&A expenses to €385.0 million (30.6% of sales) from €313.7 million (29.6% of sales) in 2011-12:

− Variable marketing expenses represented 18.2% of sales (€228.7 million) compared with 16.7% (€177.1 million) in 2011-12. The increase was notably due to the fact that these expenses are always higher at the end of a console cycle.

− Structure costs corresponded to 12.4% of sales (€156.3 million) compared with 12.9% (€136.6 million) in 2011-12.

Non-IFRS net income totaled €69.2 million in 2012-13, representing non-IFRS diluted earnings per share of €0.71, versus €37.4 million and €0.39 respectively in 2011-12.

IFRS net income stood at €64.8 million, representing IFRS diluted earnings per share of €0.67, compared with €37.3 million and €0.39 respectively in 2011-12.

Main non-IFRS cash flow statement and balance sheet items
Non-IFRS Cash flows from operating activities came to €28.4 million compared with €8.2 million in 2011-12. This reflects a positive €58.9 million in non-IFRS cash flow from operations (versus a negative €27.0 million in 2011-12) and a €30.5 million increase in non-IFRS working capital requirement (against a €35.1 million reduction in 2011-12).

At March 31, 2013 Ubisoft had a net cash position of €104.6 million versus €84.6 million at March 31, 2012. This year-on-year change is primarily attributable to:

The above-mentioned €28.4 million non-IFRS cash inflow from operating activities.

€25.0 million in purchases of tangible and intangible assets.

€4.6 million in cash outflows for business acquisitions.

A €5.6 million inflow from capital increases.

€10.7 million from sales of Gameloft shares.

A €4.8 million positive currency effect.

Outlook
Full-year 2013-14

Yves Guillemot stated, "Assassin’s Creed and Just Dance have joined the prestigious club of the 20 best-selling brands for the current generation of consoles, ranking fifth and twelfth respectively. This performance was achieved thanks to high quality levels and regular releases – two key characteristics found in each of the highest-performing brands in this console cycle. Our franchises are underpinned by recognized creative know-how and premier development capacity. With more than 7,000 developers, Ubisoft has the necessary caliber to offer its fans exceptionally rich and immersive gaming experiences on a regular basis."

Guillemot concluded, "A new console cycle is beginning and it will offer players an unrivalled experience. They will see a major leap in quality with an extraordinary level of immersion as well as the incorporation of all of the innovations developed in recent years in online and social games, giving players the opportunity to create their own experiences and share them within their communities. In order to reap the full benefit of the strong growth expected from the launch of these new consoles, we are integrating into our next blockbusters all of the expertise we have built up over recent years through our online games such as Settlers Online, Trackmania, Howrse and Trials Evolution, as well as our online services platform Uplay which offers us a strategic link with players. Our experience in connected gaming, the quality of our brands and our ability to regularly release major titles, will be vital strengths for capturing new market share and will serve as key growth drivers for the coming years.”

The Company’s initial targets for full-year 2013-14 are sales of between €1,420 million and €1,450 million, and non-IFRS operating income of between €110 million and €125 million.

Revenue generated from games for core gamers is expected to rise strongly, with notably the launch of five major titles versus three last year. This line-up includes Assassin’s Creed® 4 Black FlagTM, Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell® BlacklistTM, Watch DogsTM, and two titles that have not yet been announced, including one new creation.

Revenue generated from casual games is expected to represent less than 20% of total sales.

Online/digital sales are set to see sharp growth, fueled by digital distribution and the launch of new free-to-play titles, including The Mighty Quest for Epic LootTM, Anno® Online and Might & Magic® Heroes® Online.

Sales for the first quarter of 2013-14

The first quarter of 2013-14 will see the following main launches:

Call of Juarez® The Gunslinger and Far Cry® 3 Blood Dragon through digital distribution on PC, PSN and XBLA

Trackmania™ 2 Stadium through digital distribution on PC

The Group expects first-quarter 2013-14 sales to amount to approximately €70 million, representing a contraction of 47% compared with the first quarter of 2012-13 – a period that saw the release of Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Future Soldier®.

Recent significant events
Market share: In the first three months of calendar 2013, Ubisoft was the number 4 independent publisher in the United States, with 7.7% market share (compared to number 3 and 7.1% one year earlier) and number 3 in Europe with 10.2% market share (compared to number 3 and 8.2%).

Acquisition of the remaining stake in Related Designs: Ubisoft previously owned 29.95% of Related Designs and has acquired the remaining 70.05% in a cash transaction. As part of Ubisoft, Related Designs’ experienced 65-person staff will continue development of the browser-based free-to-play MMO game Might & Magic® Heroes® Online, and will work on future titles in partnership with Blue Byte, Ubisoft’s studio based in Düsseldorf.

Bond placement: Ubisoft has placed €40 million worth of bonds with a five-year term and a 3.038% coupon.

Non-IFRS financial information

A reconciliation between the IFRS and non-IFRS measures is provided in the appendices to this press release.

MONTREAL, February 26th, 2013 – Today, Ubisoft Montreal announced the winner of the contest to redesign its studio located at 5505 St-Laurent Boulevard, in partnership with the City of Montreal’s…

MONTREAL, February 26th, 2013 – Today, Ubisoft Montreal announced the winner of the contest to redesign its studio located at 5505 St-Laurent Boulevard, in partnership with the City of Montreal’s Bureau du design. The jury, presided by French designer Matali Crasset, and seven design and architecture industry professionals, as well as Ubisoft Montreal employees, chose Lemay’s design, which stood out from the other proposals.

Located in a former denim factory built in 1903, Ubisoft Montreal’s Peck building will benefit from the significant improvement of its installations, aiming to allow employees to express their creativity anytime and anywhere. The mandate to complete the renovation work is estimated at two to three years.

The contest had two stages. First, an advisory committee invited eleven architecture and interior design firms to present a global vision for the redesign project. Five firms (Sid Lee Architecture, Jean de Lessard Designer, Atelier Pierre Thibault, Moureaux Hauspy Associés Designers, and Lemay) moved on to the next step and presented a detailed concept, including models of certain floors. Their presentation was evaluated based on identity and space appropriation, functionality and ergonomics, ecological and integration qualities, and finally, feasibility.

At the end of the auditions and deliberations, Lemay was declared the winning firm, notably for having placed the user at the center of the project. The efficiency of work spaces, the integration of furniture into the current architecture, the location of informal work zones and the strong identity of the project were determining factors in this decision.

“We are proud to have organized this contest in partnership with the Montreal Bureau du design and to now count on Lemay to deliver the important mandate of revising Ubisoft Montreal’s interior workspaces. Their concept is very much in line with the studio's culture and offers many possibilities in terms of flexibility, versatility, and space appropriation”, declared Yannis Mallat Ubisoft Montréal and Toronto Chief Executive Officer.

“I acknowledge Ubisoft’s initiative to offer employees an inspiring working environment and to choose design as a driver for creativity and competitiveness. Also, calling on the expertise and talent of city professionals to develop a design competition clearly strengthens Montréal’s status as a UNESCO City of Design. These actions are to be applauded,” said Élaine Ayotte, member of the Montréal Executive Committee responsible for culture, heritage and design.

It is possible to look at the models presented by the winner and the finalists on the Montreal UNESCO City of Design website.

McFarlane Toys Teams Up with Ubisoft® for New ‘Assassin's Creed®’ Action Figure Line

Action Figures to Arrive at Retailers Summer 2013

McFarlane Toys in partnership with Ubisoft announced today a licensing agreement to bring Assassin's Creed®, one of world’s most successful video games franchises, to store shelves.

McFarlane Toys’ Assassin's Creed series 1 will consist of seven figures including the fan favorite characters of Connor and Haytham Kenway. Connor will come as two action figures – one in his Assassin’s Creed® III traditional Assassins garb and the second, as Ratonhnhaké:ton in the upcoming “Tyranny of King George” storyline. Each figure will be sculpted in the hyper-detail the award-winning McFarlane is known for with collectors and fans.

The Assassin Creed figure line of figures will stand approximately six inches tall, include an average of 25 points of articulation, and will come with a unique code that unlocks exclusive Assassin's Creed video game content!

McFarlane Toys will be displaying a first look of the upcoming Assassin's Creed action figureprototypes at the International Toy Fair show, February 10-13, booth #4921.

Assassin's Creed has grown to become Ubisoft’s fastest-selling IP of the current console generation. Initially launched in 2007, the first four Assassin's Creed games have sold more than 40 million units worldwide, and the franchise is now established as one of the best-selling series ever. The fifth game, Assassin's Creed III, launched in October 2012, and is now the fastest-selling game in the company's history, with total sell-through topping the 7 million mark worldwide just one month after its release.

Recognized for having some of the richest, most engrossing storytelling in the industry, Assassin's Creed transcends video games, branching out into other entertainment experiences including comic books, Facebook games, novels, short films and more.

Todd McFarlane, CEO and founder of McFarlane Toys, said, “I'm always excited to work with a premiere entertainment company like Ubisoft. Their world-class studios have created some of the most compelling video games in recent memory. The Assassin's Creed series is a huge hit with gamers, and continues to grow in popularity. We're thrilled to have the opportunity to create high-quality collectibles based on their games, and to bring them to a wide audience at a reasonable price.”

Todd explains, “We're always looking to raise the bar with our figures, and Ubisoft has been a great partner to help make that happen. These will be the first McFarlane Toys to include integration with the game itself. Our Assassin's Creed figures will include codes that unlock unique content in game – things like new weapons, clothing colors, or other customization options. Features like this reward the hardcore fans who buy the figures, and give collectors some added value.”

“McFarlane Toys is renowned for their creativity, authenticity and incredibly detailed action figures,” said Tony Key, senior vice president of sales and marketing, Ubisoft. “We’re excited to partner with Todd to bring the colorful characters in the Assassin’s Creed universe as action figures to consumers.”

McFarlane Toys' Assassin's Creed action figures will retail for $14.99-$16.99 and will be available at major mass and specialty retailers in the United States, Canada, South America, Australia, Mexico and New Zealand.

Deal Builds on Attachment of Michael Fassbender

SAN FRANCISCO — October 22, 2012 —Today, Ubisoft® and New Regency announced that they are partnering on the forthcoming Assassin’s Creed® film.

Ubisoft Motion Pictures, the film and television division of Ubisoft, will develop the Assassin’s Creed film in close collaboration with New Regency. The development of a screenplay is beginning immediately and the project is being fast tracked as the creative pieces come together, while allowing Ubisoft to maintain control of key elements of the movie’s creative direction. Financial terms of the deal are not being disclosed.

“Ubisoft chose to partner with New Regency because they are a talent- and filmmaker-driven company, with the same independent and creative mindset that we have at Ubisoft Motion Pictures,” said Jean-Julien Baronnet, chief executive officer, Ubisoft Motion Pictures. “Bringing aboard New Regency’s renowned production and distribution expertise while maintaining our own creative and financial flexibility ensures that Assassin’s Creed will be a high-quality film that respects the lore and fans of the video game franchise.”

The partnership with New Regency comes hot on the heels of Ubisoft Motion Pictures attaching distinguished actor Michael Fassbender to the Assassin’s Creed film.

“We wanted to do everything we could to secure the rights to Assassin's Creed, which Ubisoft has maintained with such care and quality over the years,” said Brad Weston, president and chief executive officer, New Regency. "Having just finished working with Michael on Steve McQueen’s 12 Years A Slave (with Plan B) made the partnership even more irresistible."

Ubisoft Motion Pictures was created in January 2011 to expand the audience of Ubisoft’s successful video game brands by bringing them to film, television and Web series.
In addition to the Assassin’s Creed movie, the studio also is in production on the Rabbids TV series, a collection of 78 seven-minute CGI episodes based on the insane, hilarious and silly stars of the video game franchise of the same name, in partnership with France Televisions and Nickelodeon. Ubisoft Motion Pictures also has two additional feature-length films in development based on the Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell and Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon video game franchises.

LOS ANGELES — June 4, 2012 — Today at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), Ubisoft debuted its new, ground-breaking intellectual property, an open-world action-adventure game called Watch Dogs. Development of Watch Dogs is being led by Ubisoft Montreal, with a team comprised of industry veterans from blockbuster franchises like Assassin’s Creed®, Rainbow 6® and Far Cry™. Watch Dogs blends cutting-edge technologies and sophisticated game design into a realistic and living open world where players must use any means at their disposal to take down a corrupt system. In Watch Dogs, players enter the dangerous world of Aiden Pearce, a new class of antihero whose ability to hack into any connected system could be his most powerful weapon. Whether it’s triggering a 30-car pileup by manipulating traffic-lights to trap an enemy during a downtown shootout or tapping into the city’s omnipresent security cameras to access anyone’s personal information, Pearce is capable of coercing and controlling almost every element of the world around him. “Watch Dogs goes beyond the limits of today’s open-world games by giving players the ability to control an entire city,” said Jonathan Morin, creative director, Ubisoft. “In Watch Dogs, anything connected to the city’s Central Operating System becomes a weapon. By pushing the boundaries, we can provide players with action and access to information on a scale that’s never been seen in a video game before.” About Ubisoft: Ubisoft is a leading producer, publisher and distributor of interactive entertainment products worldwide and has grown considerably through a strong and diversified line-up of products and partnerships.

Conferences and games will be given

Montréal, QC, April 27, 2012—Yannis Mallat, President and Chief Executive Officer of Ubisoft Montréal and Toronto, and Helen Fotopulos, Ville de Montréal Executive Committee member for Culture, Heritage, Design & the Status of Women, today announced a partnership to provide some 850 video games to 27 member establishments within Ville de Montréal's network of libraries and 50 games to Bibliothèque et Archives Nationales du Québec (BAnQ). Ubisoft's two main entities in Montréal—the production studio and Ubisoft Canada, the sales and marketing subsidiary—will start by providing 450 copies of 13 games released in the last few years for home consoles. Six of the titles were produced by the company's Québec studios. Furthermore, Ubisoft also undertakes to provide 450 additional copies of games to be released between now and March 2013. Ubisoft's gift represents a market value of around $30,000.

“15 years ago, Montréal greeted Ubisoft with open arms. As we grew, it became natural for the studio to create and seize opportunities to give back to Montrealers and Quebecers. If the contribution from three important video game studios can encourage more youths to visit Montréal’s Libraries and Grande Bibliothèque, we will have shown that our industry can work together to increase Montréalers' access to cultural assets,” expressed Yannis Mallat, President and Chief Executive Officer of Ubisoft Montréal and Toronto, at the press conference. Lectures The agreement with the BAnQ also provides for educational lectures presented by Ubisoft employees, who will share certain technical and artistic aspects of their jobs to encourage youths' interest in career opportunities in the video game industry. Today, Montréal is a hub for several cultural and artistic sectors, including video games. "This commitment is yet one more way for us to thank those who contributed, directly and indirectly, to Ubisoft Montréal's success as an industry leader over the past 15 years, and continue to educate youth on various aspects of a career in video games," added Mr. Mallat.

Today, Ubisoft Montreal announces Academia, a series of programs aimed at introducing and educating young people from Quebec, aged 12 to 25 years old, to the professions and production process of video…

MONTREAL, Quebec - April 12, 2012 – Today, Ubisoft Montreal announces Academia, a series of programs aimed at introducing and educating young people from Quebec, aged 12 to 25 years old, to the professions and production process of video games through targeted learning activities. The Academia banner oversees four programs initiated by Ubisoft Montreal and its partners: the Videogame Base Camp, the Ubisoft Immersion Camp, the Game Lab and the Ubisoft Summer School. These programs allow young people to learn the skills and abilities required by the industry as well as experience various aspects under actual production conditions. Participants therefore exercise their creativity, their sense of innovation and leadership.

• Videogame Base Camp: over one week, students, aged 12 to 15 years old, familiarize themselves with the principles governing the production process of a video game by developing a board game. Following a creative workshop and conferences, participants will work in teams and use Toon Boom’s technology under the supervision of professionals in the digital arts.

• Ubisoft Immersion Camp: 15 to 18 year old students will attend a two-week summer school during which they will design a mini video game while mastering industry tools and techniques. Participants will be encouraged to exercise their creativity, develop a team spirit and practice open dialogue through workshops and sports and outdoor activities.

• Game Lab: in partnership with Autodesk and chaired by a jury consisting of Ubisoft employees and an Autodesk employee, the Game Lab allows student teams to create a game prototype using professional industry tools. Teams will deliver a design document that describes the concept of the game and a playable demo representative of the final game. The winners of the 2012 group will be announced on April 19 during an official ceremony.

Ubisoft, Université de Montréal, and the Natural Sciences and Enginnering Research Council of Canada join forces to create the NSERC-Ubisoft industrial research chair on learning representations…

UBISOFT, UNIVERSITÉ DE MONTRÉAL, AND THE NATURAL SCIENCES AND ENGINEERING RESEARCH COUNCIL OF CANADA JOIN FORCES TO CREATE THE NSERC-UBISOFT INDUSTRIAL RESEARCH CHAIR ON LEARNING REPRESENTATIONS FOR IMMERSIVE VIDEO GAMES

Montreal, CANADA – March 15, 2011 – Chief Executive Officer of Ubisoft Montreal and Toronto Yannis Mallat announced, during his speech at the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal today, the creation of a research chair on artificial intelligence named NSERC-Ubisoft Industrial Chair on Learning Representations for Immersive Video Games. Ubisoft Montreal will invest $200 000 each year for five years into this partnership.

The NSERC-Ubisoft Industrial Chair on Learning Representations for Immersive Video Games Mr. Yoshua Bengio, Chairholder and Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Operational Research at Université de Montréal, will supervise research activities alongside Mr. Yves Jacquier, Executive Director of Ubisoft Montreal’s Production services studios. About 30 students and researchers will work within Ubisoft production teams to bring together video game engineers and developers’ know-how with the research methods of professors and students at Université de Montréal. These two teams are already working on projects which have proven the relevance of combining academic work with practical applications.

“Today, players expect personalized experiences, adapted to their gaming style and level of experience. The combination of academic and practical knowledge will accelerate our efforts to develop high-level, interactive, dynamic, and adaptable content, Yves Jacquier says. Players will benefit from the research results as early as 2012 on games from Ubisoft’s greatest brands.” Algorithms and productivity The research, whose main goal is to further develop learning algorithms known as deep algorithms, should result in significant advancements in the fields of machine learning and artificial intelligence. “Our teams of professors and students have been collaborating for more than two years to advance research on data treatment for the creation of learning algorithms that modify in-game experience”, Professor and Chairholder Yoshua Bengio says.

“The amount of technological data to process is always increasing and becoming harder for developers to deal with. Research work will not only help the quality and adaptation of content, but also the efficiency and productivity of developers responsible for the creation of the content.” By analyzing data on the player’s in-game behavior, it will be possible, for instance, to offer him or her a new dimension of interactivity with the help of artificial intelligence (AI). The AI will “learn” from the data and “adapt” the content of the games and the recommendations made to the player in accordance with his or her behavior. "NSERC makes Canada a country of discoverers and innovators," said NSERC President Dr. Suzanne Fortier. "Dr. Bengio is a world renowned leader in the field of machine learning.

The second term of the Chair is focussed on applying advancements in this area to develop leading-edge technology for the video game industry. This research program will help us maintain our technological edge in the multi-billion dollar gaming industry, which holds a particularly large place in Canada's economy, thanks in part to Ubisoft Montreal."

The chair will focus on three activities:

The collection of data for the creation of an improved, immersive experience customized in real-time, thanks to the generation of varied automated elements with the adaptable AI;

The development of techniques to better equip artists and 3D animators in the creation of high-quality, immersive environments, namely the displaying of rich and flowing video content that takes into account the limitations of game consoles;

The sharing of knowledge, experience and tools between academics and technologists, in order to stimulate creativity and innovation with the purpose of increasing the productivity of production teams.

Guy Breton, Université de Montréal Rector, says this partnership will further enhance research already conducted on campus: “By investing in the knowledge and talent development, Ubisoft and the NSERCC support our community’s unique scientific vitality and creativity.” During his speech, Yannis Mallat said: “The creation of the chair is in line with partnerships between Ubisoft and Quebec educational institutions, for the advancement of the science behind the development of high-level interactive entertainment products.Indeed, Ubisoft hopes to help maintain Montreal’s status as a reference in video game production and R&D by actively participating in the development of a techno-creative community invested in innovative projects.”

Montreal’s largest video game studio will continue to develop award-winning video games from the heart of Montreal’s artistic hub

Montreal’s largest video game studio will continue to develop award-winning video games from the heart of Montreal’s artistic hub Montreal, Quebec, June 22nd, 2011 – UBISOFT Montreal confirmed today it has renewed its lease until 2023 as the sole tenant of the Peck Building, thus re-establishing its commitment to lead Montreal’s video game industry through strategic investments in the local business community. The lease, which was scheduled to end in 2013, has been extended for an additional 10 years. In 1997, the old textile factory, situated at the corner of Saint-Laurent and Saint-Viateur, became the home of Montreal’s first major video game developing studio. Today, Ubisoft relies on the expertise of over 2 100 employees in the Mile-End sector, the majority occupying the Peck building’s five floors, covering over 251,000 square feet of office space. Part of the agreement also includes plans for a major rejuvenation of the centennial building’s infrastructure and the optimization of its interior design in order to offer employees a refreshed, inspiring work environment. The Canadian real estate advisor and broker, NKF Devencore acted as our advisor for this important transaction. Ubisoft’s decision to renew the lease with Allied Properties REIT, owner of the Peck Building, stems from a long and rigorous evaluation of every feasible, available option. “At the end of the day, the same reasons that attracted Ubisoft to the Mile-End 15 years ago still apply today, stated Yannis Mallat, President and Chief Executive Officer of Ubisoft Montreal and Toronto. The Mile-End’s inspiring and convivial atmosphere generates an artistic cluster unlike anywhere else in North America, offering our game developers a fertile source of creativity and innovation.” Over the past fourteen years, more than 70 games and world-renowned franchises such as Far Cry, Assassin’s Creed, Just Dance, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon and Your Shape Fitness Evolved were developed within the iconic red brick building. Developing a techno-creative community Since its inauguration in Montreal, Ubisoft invested in its infrastructure (audio-video studio, Motion Capture and a technology R&D center) as well as different educational initiatives. Last March, Ubisoft inaugurated, in partnership with the University of Montréal, a research chair on artificial intelligence named NSERC-Ubisoft Industrial Chair on Learning Representations for Immersive Video Games. In addition to the aforementioned investments, Ubisoft made two major acquisitions that enabled its developers to offer consumers innovative game experiences. Hybride technology and Quazal technologies joined Ubisoft Montreal in 2008 and 2010, respectively. Sustaining the Mile-End’s artistic ecosystem “Strongly anchored in the Mile-End, Ubisoft Montreal is sensitive to the preservation and development its artistic community. We wish to contribute to the growth of this unique ecosystem and will continue our involvement with our usual community partners”, expressed Cédric Orvoine, Director, Communications at Ubisoft Montréal.” Ubisoft Montreal is actively involved in various community projects, such as the rejuvenation of the Champs des possible. Ubisoft Montreal also supports the Comité des citoyens, the Marché estival du Mile-End, la Journée des bons voisins, les Journées de la culture as well as the Ateliers Portes Ouvertes du Mile-End (APO) which promotes 100 talented Mile-end artists. Ubisoft Montreal also plays an active role in supporting and promoting various Montreal-centric cultural and artistic events, such as MUTEK, Fantasia, Chromatic and POP Montreal.

Final Chapter in the Ezio Trilogy Arrives in November

Final Chapter in the Ezio Trilogy Arrives in November Montréal, Canada – May 5, 2011 – Today, Ubisoft announced the development of Assassin’s Creed® Revelations, the fourth installment in the critically acclaimed and immensely popular video game franchise. Developed and led by Ubisoft Montreal with the support and expertise of Ubisoft studios Annecy, Massive Entertainment, Quebec, Singapore and Bucharest, Assassin’s Creed Revelations presents the most immersive experience available in the series to date and the culmination of Ezio’s adventure. The game is set to release on the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Windows PC this November. Initially launched in 2007, the first three Assassin’s Creed® games have sold more than 28 million units worldwide, and the franchise is now established as one of the best-selling series on next generation consoles. Recognized for having some of the richest, most engrossing storytelling in the industry, Assassin’s Creed has transcended video games, branching out into other entertainment experiences such as comic books, Facebook, novels, short films and more. In Assassin’s Creed Revelations, master assassin Ezio Auditore walks in the footsteps of his legendary mentor, Altaïr, on a journey of discovery and revelation. It is a perilous path – one that will take Ezio to Constantinople, the heart of the Ottoman Empire, where a growing army of Templars threatens to destabilize the region. In addition to Ezio’s award-winning story, the acclaimed online multiplayer experience returns, refined and expanded, with more modes, more maps and more characters that allow players to test their assassin skills against others from around the world. The latest chapter in the Assassin’s Creed saga also includes revolutionary gameplay, allowing players to manipulate the construct of Desmond’s memories and the Animus to decipher the mysteries of his past and gain insight into the future. “Delivering the final chapter of the Ezio trilogy is an important milestone in the Assassin’s Creed franchise for us and for our fans,” said Alexandre Amancio, Creative Director at Ubisoft Montreal. “Assassin’s Creed Revelations includes lots of new features and some significant surprises. We can’t wait to show our fans what we have in store at E3 this year.” For more information on Assassin’s Creed, visit: www.assassinscreed.com and www.facebook.com/assassinscreed.
